Building the Future

The spectacular closing out event of Big Local Thurnscoe took place on March 23rd 2024, and trustees were present to meet residents and find out what they would like to see the CIO focus on in the future. People told us that they were especially keen to see;

• A range of free community events at different parts of the year
• Opportunities to meet new people
• Activities for young people- sporting or creative and more youth provision
• Dance shows and musical events
• More trees/planting on the Plaza and permanent picnic tables
• Online directory of community groups/ events

Whilst of course we can’t do everything, we will try hard to make sure there are some free community events taking place throughout the year and we will maintain the half moon and 3-tier planters along the main road. We think the Christmas Tree and Festive Lights are an important legacy of Big Local Thurnscoe and we have committed to fund them for at least the next 3 years.

We will continue to apply for funding where we can to bring as many new opportunities to residents as we can.
